PRACTICAL GUIDES

Demolition and the homeowners’ association

In an apartment, distinguish private components from shared building parts. Check the deed of division, association rules and required consent. Communal access also needs practical arrangements.

Ownership and consent

Walls, floors, chimney sections and shared services may not belong solely to the apartment owner. Establish responsibility and required approval before removal.

Hours, lifts and stairs

Agree allowed working hours, lift loads and protection of the entrance and staircase. A passenger lift is not automatically suitable for heavy rubble transport.

Scope and neighbours

Describe the retained components and safe separation of occupied areas. Association consent does not replace address-specific permit checks or structural assessment.

Preparation at a glance

  • Check the deed and association requirements.
  • Agree shared-area protection and transport.
  • Keep permits and structural documents separate.

Frequently asked question

Does association consent replace municipal permission?

No. They concern different requirements and must be checked separately.

A bathroom, house or commercial property? Photos and a short description help the initial assessment. Complex work may need a site visit or further documents.
