PRACTICAL GUIDES

Demolition on upper floors: stairs, lifts and waste

On an upper floor, stairs, lifts, doorways and permitted loads determine the transport route. A small room may produce substantial heavy rubble.

More than a floor number

Share stair width, corners, lift dimensions and allowed loads. Provide photos from the work area all the way to the collection location.

Protect and organise the route

Agree shared-area protection and temporary collection. Access must remain suitable for other occupants where the building stays in use.

Lifting aids and public space

Equipment depends on the actual property and available positioning area. A lifting platform or crane is not standard in every quote, and public-land use may need an additional procedure.

Preparation at a glance

  • Photograph the whole route.
  • Check lift limits and use rules.
  • Agree protection and equipment space.

Frequently asked question

Is a lift always faster for rubble collection?

No. Dimensions, permitted loads, use rules and the route outside determine suitability.

A bathroom, house or commercial property? Photos and a short description help the initial assessment. Complex work may need a site visit or further documents.
