PRACTICAL GUIDES

Kitchen dismantling or demolition?

Dismantling releases components for possible reuse. Demolition removes the kitchen for renovation. Condition, fixings and the intended destination determine which approach is useful.

Cabinets and worktops

Check cabinet condition, connected units and worktop fixings. A fragile or glued worktop may limit intact dismantling. Describe what must be retained before a method is quoted.

Appliances and connections

Identify built-in and freestanding appliances and their destination. The appropriate installer makes gas, water and electricity safe before removal. Reconnection is a separate task.

The rest of the room

Removing cabinets does not include every tile, floor layer or splashback. The new kitchen supplier should specify the required substrate and connection arrangement.

Preparation at a glance

  • List items for reuse.
  • Confirm collection or storage.
  • Define floor, tile and connection work separately.

Frequently asked question

Is dismantling always damage-free?

No. Condition and fixings can prevent intact removal. Agree what is achievable before work.
