When is a notification relevant?
IPLO identifies the estimated waste volume as a relevant factor. The exemption for no more than 10 m³ does not apply in the same way to asbestos. Assess the whole demolition activity, not one room within a larger project. A notification must include the required information and documents.
A permit answers different questions
The permit check considers the address, activities and applicable rules. Structural changes and protected situations may involve additional procedures. Homeowners’ association consent, permission for equipment on public land and safe service isolation remain separate matters.
Allow for the procedure
The general submission period for notifiable demolition is four weeks, with exceptions for specific situations. Set the start date against the actual procedure. An incomplete submission does not establish that the required notification has been made.
Preparation at a glance
- Check the address and activity.
- Estimate the entire waste volume and identify unusual materials.
- Assign responsibility for documents and permissions.
Frequently asked question
Is demolition without a notification always allowed?
No. An exemption does not remove other permit requirements, protected conditions, association arrangements or safety requirements.
